The Long Beach Police Department and Jail is one of the largest city jails in Los Angeles County, where you’ll find the booking and release process will take a considerable amount of time. Bookings can take a minimum of six to eight hours, and the inmate release process, after we post a bail bond, could take an average of three hours or possibly less. It all depends on how busy they are at the time, and as you might imagine, they are usually pretty busy, especially on weekends and during tourist season.
Parking is available either on the surrounding streets or in an adjacent parking structure, where the first 30 minutes are free. They have a lobby where you can wait for your friend or loved one to be released. Usually females are released into the lobby and males out of a side door on the Magnolia side of the building.

The Long Beach Police Dept. and Jail (LBPD&J) is located at 400 W. Broadway in Long Beach, at the corner of Chestnut and Broadway.
From the 405 Freeway North or South: Merge onto the 710 Freeway South toward Long Beach Downtown/Aquarium. Then bear left at the fork and continue straight onto W. Broadway. The LBPD&J will be on your right. The jail is bordered by these major streets: Magnolia Street, Pacific Avenue, Ocean Blvd and 3rd Street.
Long Beach Jail - Inmate Visitation
The Long Beach Jail allows inmates two daily 15 minute visits, which are held via a video conferencing system monitored from police headquarters. Only one person is allowed per visit, with the exception of one child accompanied by its parent or legal guardian. Visitation days and times are controlled based on the nature of the crime. Inmates with misdemeanor offenses have visitation Thursday – Sunday from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. Those with felony charges have visitation Thursday - Sunday from 10:30 a.m. – 11:45 a.m.
